I got a tattoo of the redsox "socks". Right on my hip. The first tattoo of something rather than just pretty pictures.
Anywho, healing is taking a beating because it's on my hip and everything rubs it. It's been 1 1/2 weeks and it's just now scabbing up. (gross). My tattoo healing is always pretty good - some scab up, some don't. But usually they are always healed up within a week or two. This one is tough on me. It actually looks like the my body is simply rejecting the red ink. Has anyone had trouble like this with their ink?

Something similar happened to HunHun when he hot his sleeve. It was down at the wrist and we're guessing bc of shirt rubs and b/c of wrist bending, which I think made any healing (scabs) wld be messed with again and again. It took a bit longer but did heal fine! Hope yours does too, soon!
I haven't, but I have a friend who had a reaction to a simple black tat between her shoulder blades. It wasn't her first tat and it had never happened to her before but by the time it finally healed the color was terrible - it looked like a medium blue color. She had the color done again a few months later and it did fine. it was really weird.
I am nervous about mine- It's only 2 days, but I can feel a scab coming on & being at the wrist I think a lot of the same issue (rubbing) could happen...
My neighbor got two on her feet & had some color fading issues already. I think at that point there's really only so much they can do.
I ~love~ that we got tattos within a week-ish. Maybe THAT'S what we should have done in november! ;)
I have one on my right hip and it took a while to heal. I think it's because of where it's located. It gets rubbed so much that it has a harder time and takes longer. Mine scabbed as well.
Hope it heals faster for you...
I had that problem with my wrist tattoo. My watch kept rubbing it. I can't say you should just go without pants since I think your part of the country is getting snow but maybe let it air out everynight? It would be odd to have an ink reaction but I have heard that red can be hard for some people. Hope you heal fast.
Well since I'm knew to the whole tattoo thing, I really have no advise for you. But I'd love to see it! Hey did you check out the picture of mine? It's nothing like yours, but I still love it!
I have one that scabbed and pealed, took a while to heal. I had to have it touched up a few weeks later because the scabbing and pealing was so bad. That was fun - tattoo on fresh new baby skin? Anyway, I'm sure it's just the friction, and it'll be okay.
my elbows are red.. the only red on my body and it took nearly a month for them to heal.. granted elbows are icky anyway and they are huge.. but.. damn.. red ick and i don't mix.
and i've been planning on getting the sox socks too.. just can't pick a place! :)
Maybe this is a totally duh comment but, could you just completely bandage the whole area until it heals? Maybe you are.. but it seems like that should pad it sort of until it heals more?
The one that took the longest to heal was my tiger on my back and that was because my bra rubbed on it. But I did have a problem with a celtic symbol on my ankle because I had a reaction to the orange ink. I have no problems with any other colors, just orange.
I have two tattoos with red in them, one on my ankle and one on my left rib cage. Neither endured much rubbing, but the red scabbed really badly on both. I am convinced it is the red ink!
I have a new tattoo on my hip aswell, and I am having a terrible allergic reaction! It is now two weeks since I got it and still my whole hip, side, top of my bum and big areas on my tummy and bak are red and swollen. It itches and burns like mad! And I am starting to loose my head. I was so exited and tried now for so long to stay positive, but now I am starting to feel down and dissapointed!
I am going to the docter today for the second time since I got my tattoo!
