I weigh

148 lbs. Shit. What happened?

I'm 5'8" and should weigh in 20 lbs lighter. This sucks. But I'm starting right now to get out of my weight hole. Right now. So it looks as if ill be concentrating on weight loss and my blog will follow my struggle with it.

One of my med's main side effect is weight gain. But I'm not going to hide behind that. I ~can~ control this. I ~can~. Just watch.

I'm 2" shorter and like 5 lbs lighter. You're doing ok. I tell myself that all the time and then blame it on my children.

Actually Nancy, they average is 100 lbs at 5 ft tall and 5 lbs per inch above that. But, the important thing is that you need to be happy at whatever weight you deem appropriate.

If I look at what I ~should~ weigh I pretty much belong on biggest loser... I currently weigh 20 pounds more than you!!! (And I am at least 5 inches shorter)
Don't forget that body type really does count- I am technically obese based on weight/bmi, but in reality I am overweight. I also need to get this under control as I was about 10 pounds from my goal weight a few short months ago- but I know my trigger is stress & that is proving to be a very daunting thing to control.

We can do it together- call/text works really well for me- I get stressed/depressed & want to eat for comfort- or just not move around. Let's figure something out to be each others sounding board/support- even more than now!

You can do it! It sounds like a lot of people are in the same boat... myself included. You are not alone!

Dude - I if I weighed 110 lbs, I'd look sickly anorexic and people on the street would throw cheeseburgers at me. I'd be happy to get down to a comfortable 140-150, which is what I weighed in my senior year of high school and had me comfortably in a size 8. Are you doing the Special K thing again? Today is suppose to be my Day 1 and I was thinking of trying it out.

I am 5'4 and 120-125 and a size 2-4. I am exactly the right size. Someone 5-8 should be about 140-150, you sound like you are the perfect size!

Oy!

Don't get me started. I echo what's been said here. Here's the tricky thing with weight --and if anyone knows this its me -- numbers don't reflect the composition of fat/muscle etc. -- and so BMI's and general guidelines aren't much use --

I just say this as a woman who has hated myself over the ten or fifteen lbs I felt would transform my life -- and wish I'd been more at peace with it then -- (since I'm now 20 lbs over my danger danger things are out of control weight)

I always go by measurements -- and for me that means that I can gauge much more accurately success/progress. I'm steadily losing weight now but its so much more slow going than it was 10 years ago when I was 28.

I just read Geneen Roth's Women Food and God -- all about the struggle with body image and how it can be connected to deeper struggles for women --if anyone is battling a life long obsession with weight (as I have) I would highly recommend it.

I have no doubt you are gorgeous as always Nancy -- but I know sometimes its hard to see it yourself -- be easy on yourself love and be gentle.

Love you,
XOXO

Pam

Dude, I'm 5'7" and I don't weigh 128! I'm at 137. I am pretty sure you're still super hot because every pic I see of you, you are! You are at a normal weight so don't stress the numbers on the scale so much. I find that I have lower self esteem if I obsess over the scale vs. just wearing my clothes and being confident with myself.

Good luck, Nancy. Weight is such a horrible thing to struggle with. For me it is just that - a control issue. I have to get control over my impulses.

I always feel like I've got 10 lbs to lose. Why is it 10 lbs can be such a bitch to get rid of?

You're still hot! I think you know for your height you're certainly not tipping the scales... yet we all have a weight that we like to be at, and if we're not there, we feel crappy, no matter what everyone else says.

You'll get back to where you want to be, no worries :)
