Nothing was taken. All my electronics and cds were left. I guess they were rifling through it to find fast cash. Not interested in anything else.
Looks like I'm going to have to lock up my car at my own home. That's lame.

Um locking our cars at our homes is standard practice in SA. I would not dream of not locking my car!

Oh my!! I'm so sorry!
I don't think I've left my car unlocked ever- when I was 10 someone broke into my aunt's car at our house & stole birthday presents. They found mine thrown on the road about 10 minutes away. I grew up west of bumblef*$k too- in farm country...
Now I get nervous if the car sits & warms up in front of the house instead of the driveway- no reason at the moment, but it's so ingrained!
The one time in my adult life I left my car ulocked (in error) my Ipod was stolen over night....I lock it in my garage even...And mind you I live in a town with a population of like 50 (!)
Glad your stuff is still there
I always leave the doors to my cars unlocked in my driveway. I also don't have anything of any value in my cars so there wouldn't be much to take anyway.
I guess I figure they will break into it if they really want to. This way then can do so without any damage to my cars...
My husband used to make fun of me for locking my car in the garage. I don't do it any more, but if I leave the car in the driveway - even for just a couple hours - it's locked.
Glad nothing was taken - but what a discouraging incident. It sucks when a little bit of your security is chipped away.
I didn't leave my car unlocked when I was in class at the University. That doesn't stop them, they broke the back window and stole my sterio. There was glass all over my baby's carseat and it was the middle of winter. For a while after that I never locked the doors because I figured if it was unlocked at least they wouldn't break my window.
I'm with the pp's, I've never left my car unlocked. Its great that they didn't really take anything, so you can move fwd locking your car. :)
Standard practice here too - always has been, and the few times I didn't, my truck got broken in to. CDs have been stolen twice, the amp that was custom matched to the trucks interior once, and they broke my CD player out of the dash. The first time they only took the faceplate - HA! So yeah - always locked.
My dad, on the other hand, never locks his car or the house...but he lives in a town of 673 people, 20 miles from anywhere. :) Hard for me to convince him that when he comes to visit he needs to lock his truck up.
That really sucks.
Glad nothing was taking but what a bummer :( That happened to us in our own driveway last year (we think some kids from the neighborhood were being assholes) and it leaves you feeling so violated.
Glad your car wasn't vandalized & they didn't take anything!
We HAVE to lock our cars in front of the house at all times. My car was broken into not too long ago. However, I seriously think I left the door wide open when I went in the house so it was easy access.
We hear a lot of reports of theft around our neighborhood, so we don't chance it.
Strange! I am glad they didn't take anything.
I have had that happen several times. I think my neighbor checks my car every night to see if I forget to lock it. They only take change but make a huge mess everytime.
We never lock our car...and during the day we only lock the front door of the house if we're just running errands in town.
I'm sorry they broke into your car, but as you said, at least they didn't take anything.
Can I blame my totally lame preggo brain for the stupid spelling of "sterio"? I read through my comment when going through some of the newer ones, of course I really do know how to spell stereo.
