Holy moly.

I just went to get gas. I knew it was cold, but the sky was clear and it was nice and sunny, so it didn't look that bad.

I wore cords, shirt, sweater, winter coat, gloves, hat and a scarf. I let my car run for 20 minutes before I left to get it warmed up. But when we got in the car, it was still cold. By the time it took me to run my bard through the pump, select grade, get the pump into my car, to start it running on automatic and then to hustle back into my car until the tank was full, my pants had frozen and my fingers were numb through my gloves.

I brought up weather.com on my phone and the temp was -12 with the windchill sitting at -36.

NEGATIVE 36.

Dude. I have never dealt with this type of cold. Holy shit.

As I was driving back home after a quick errand, the car's temp needle finally rose a fraction of an inch above cold to start running the heat a tad bit. The time it took my car to warm up with constant running? 39 minutes. That's insane.

Yuck! I'm so sick of the cold! We're supposed to have windchills in the -30 to -40 tonight. I'm excited for 30 above zero this weekend!! Sad isn't it. Spring can't get here soon enough.

That is super gross. Over here we're just sitting in HUGE snow drifts with the snow still coming down...and school closed for the 3rd time in 3 weeks (with things probably going to be closed tomorrow as well). It must be a record!

I was so confused by Colorado's weather when I went to college there. Coming from long Chicago winters, I assumed that the mountains would bring snow and cold. There was lots of snow, but the coldest it ever got was in the teens, and there wasn't any windchill. It was very strange to me - and I can imagine how horrible those wind chills are for you!

Welcome to Wisconsin! We recently had a slough of -19 (regular temp, not the wind chill) days several days in a row!

I also remember a Christmas where it was -26 ACTUAL temp. Brrr!!

I'm home from work today because there is straight ice out there. But -36- geez, sounds almost Canadian!

Damn that's crazy. It's 16 here right now. I'm certainly not looking forward to the feet of snow predicted to hit us tonight/tomorrow morning. Winter can be over now.

I just cannot even imagine at all. The coldest we've had it here was around 25 degrees last winter which was horrible! I think it was almost 80 here today. I feel so bad for everyone dealing with the cold!

I feel for you. I lived in a place with winter like that and it is no fun. I hope it will start warming up for you.

We're not quite as cold just about -18 right now. We just got a new dog and his dog house was finally finished yesterday, thank goodness. He's a wolf so he's prepared for the cold, but still nobody wants to be outside when it's -18 degrees.

Welcome back, it's nice to see a post from you again. I hope you enjoyed your time away.
