Botox baby!

I'm vain. And I'm getting older.

It's been a known fact I ~will~ be getting a facelift when I'm in my 40s. My mother is a very wrinkly woman and I can already see too many on my own face. I already am obsessed with lifting up the sides of my cheeks to see what it would look like when I'm looking in a mirror (and my husband laughs at me each time).

I know of a cosmetic doctor whom I discussed my vanity with. We talked a few times and she has me interested in Radiesse, which is a filler like restylane, but I think it's better. I want it to go under my cheek bones, lifting up my cheek to chin area, just a teeny bit. It's a little pricey, about $700/syringe (I'd need 1 - 1 1/2 syringes for the job) so it's been something I've put on my to-do list.

Well, recently I was told there was an upcoming special on the pricing, an actual 'buy one get one 'sale' on the filler themselves. I would be saving $700! Yay! And what's cool is what isn't used can be saved for the next session (this lasts about 12-18 months) so I'm pretty excited. Today is the day of the appointment and it's now or never. (okay, maybe not that dramatic) The added bonus is the clinic is running a "12 month same as cash" financing, so I won't have to pay much out of pocket at all. And I'm really good at taking a larger debt and paying monthly payments, avoiding finance fees.

Oh yeah, while I'm at it and financing this (which isn't really that expensive, so I can always just pay the whole thing at anytime) I'm going to go ahead and get botox too. I've always wanted to see what that was like, so why the hell not. I'm getting botox on my forehead and the sides of my eyes and I'm getting the filler in my cheeks and between my eyes.

I'm pretty nervous about the pain. The doc said it hurts. Ugh. I'm really not wanting anymore pain right now, but what the hell. I'm sure I'm tougher than many of the rich chicks who get shit like this done all the time, right?

My appointment is in 3 hours. I'll post before and after pictures. Unless, of course, something goes horribly wrong and I end up looking like a train wreck.

I cant WAIT to see! You KNOW how I LOVE the cosmetic procedure world.
Right now, a Dr in my area is running Botox at about 9 dollars a syringe, soooo tempting but NOT while KU. But I know of some Dr's who offer a killer discount if you throw a Botox party. I may have to do that down the road. Wanna come? ::wink::

Ok since you are always honest and seem to have a good head on your shoulders and since you offered this up, I have to ask......

I always wonder why people get plastic surgery when it's so obvious that they get it done? Like, we all see celebrities and we can all tell and, well, IMHO, it never looks good or natural. They always look fake and kind of off, weird.

Do you not see this in other women? Or do you look at other people with plastic surgery and think "Wow, she looks good" or do you think "Oh, mine will be different, mine will be normal looking" or do you just not care that it looks fake?

That sounds deeply more bitchy than I intended it to sound. I really really am not feeling judgey or bitchy and I don't mean it that way, but I have been seriously wondering this lately..........especially since my cleavage wrinkles have decided to come out in full force and I have about a murders worth of crows feet lately. I definitely have contemplated getting *something* done, but I've just never seen it not turn out weird looking and I don't want people snickering behind my back about the "work" I had done, kwim?

For some reason this post surprised me. I just didn't take you as the cosmetic surgery type. However, I also never saw anything from your pictures leading me to believe you would even need some. I guess no matter how good we look to others, we can always find flaws in ourselves...

Good luck!

Are you sure you can get botox and still breastfeed? I know I wanted to get botox, but they told me I must wait until I am done having children. They just don't know the effects. Maybe breast feeding is okay because the baby has already been born, etc. I would ask the doctor however. You don't have to publish this if you don't want to, I just wanted to be sure you asked the doc.

I can't wait to see the before and after pics and here how it goes as I also plan to have a little work done/preventative maintenance in the next 5-8 years. Good for you!!

birdee ... yup, i know your love of it! I thought of you actually. my botox is costing $10 each and we are estimating 16 in my forehead and 12 on each side of my eyes. $400, so we'll see how much I like it. I'll send you pictures.

BUT ... I may not be able to get it. They wanted to do a bit more research before giving it to me with breastfeeding. I guess there is some controversy of getting it even now. Today is the big decision, as my doc was going to do some reading before I came in today.

C Lo, I think it can look weird when someone goes too far. But I think that some work, when tastefully done, looks good. I don't think it all looks off. For instance, my breasts. They are fake and I love them. I don't try to pass them off as real, but I liked the look of my fake ones over the look of my real ones.

I think the ones you can tell and who look "off" are the ones who did go too far. You asked "Do you not see this in other women?" Well, I think the ones who have it done well are the ones you CAN'T tell. :)

So awesome! I have decided that once I pay for IVF, I am saving for a pair of twins and some filler around my eyes. Can't wait to see the pics.

Soapchick ... See my comment to birdee. It's still up in the air, we're unsure if i get the botox today or not.

Hrrrmm.......
that's a good point.

I really would like fake boobies, and I really don't care that the look a little fakey. Hrrrmmmmm

Much to ponder as I stare at all the wrinkles I woke up with this morning.

For some reason, I too was suprised by this post, even though I know you got your boobies done. Good Luck! Can't wait to see before and after!

I've always wanted Botox! My mom had to have it injected in her arm after her stroke and I always joked that I was going to suck it out of her arm and put it in my face. HA!
Good luck, I can't wait to see the results!

Wow..! That's pretty interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing the before and after pics. I don't even remotely think that you ~need~ anything like this, but I'm curious if I will see a difference. My aunt had a real facelift done and no one but her could tell. I hope it works out for you!

I've always wanted boobs. I'm going for it after I have all my babies..

I am becoming far more vain that I ever expected to. UGH. I may be in line for Botox myself before too much longer.

Ouch! I'm nowhere near vain enough to suffer like that :)

MIL got some "nu-fill" done a few years ago. She said it hurt like an absolute bitch. She had a few treatments done, and TBH the difference was minimal and certainly didn't last very long at all. Mind you she's in her 60's.

OH!

I always worry about botox. I'm not such a fan of that "look".

Hey ho, it's your choice, at least if my tummy tuck goes pear shaped I can cover it up with a t-shirt :)

Good luck and hope its painless!
