I HATE it when people honk outside a house. Seriously, can't people GET OUT OF THEIR CARS anymore? Like is it that hard to park and walk to the door?
I have a great honking story from best friend and fellow blogger Laurel (aka Bay). She actually got up out of bed, early in the morning, and bitched out a woman honking outside her neighbor's house. It's an awesome story, but I don't have time to type it all out right now, but I will soon. Keep an eye out for it.
What do strangers do which bugs the hell out of you?

they probably honk b/c they are too busy talking on their cell phones. ARGH! I hate it when strangers touch your foods and rearrange them at the the grocery story in the checkout line. ARGH.
I had my chemicals (including Seven Dust) about 6 inches away from my produce. The lady behind me took it upon herself to smash my stuff all together to have that 6 inches of space. The Seven Dust ended up on my bags of produce.
Nice huh?
I hate the honking thing too! At my parents' house I hated when people would turn around in their driveway because they're the last house on the street. I'd always get all nervous because it seemed like someone was stopping to see us and then they just back up and leave! Almost gave me a heart attack every time.
when I'm out jogging, if I look at you and smile (to acknowledge "hey I feel your pain"} would it kill you to smile back at me?
not you obviously Nancy, because clearly the chances of you and I running into each other whilst I'm out jogging are pretty remote...xxxx
Strangers drive slow. I hate that.
Honking is quite annoying. I hate it so much that I long ago decided to use my cell phone for good for a change. Now I call people when I want them to come out, if I don't want to turn the car off and go up to the door.
Living in a city I absolutely HATE it when people double park 1 or 2 spots away from an open space. My hood isn't metered so it's not like they save anything except the 20 seconds it takes to pull into a spot. our streets are not that wide people- just park the freaking car!
I feel your pain on the honking. I actually yanked my little sisters high school boyfriend out of his car when he honked for my sister.
I totally agree - honking like that is so rude.
Honking bothers me too.
I hate it when people go grocery shopping together and walk slowly next to each other, blocking the whole aisle. Or, when they run into each other at the store and stop to talk, again blocking the whole aisle.
I hate other people driving. Yes.. I am *that* person... Get off my road...
Thank you.
:)
I hate it when I let someone merge in front of me or something similar and I don't get the courtesy wave. Is it that hard?
Honking is rude when it's to call someone out of their house.
I'm bugged by drivers who continually change lanes. I suppose they think they are moving along faster but I generally see them at the next traffic light. Meanwhile they are putting others in peril. What is the hurry anyway?
I hate it when people park their cars just outside the doors of the store to "run in" and get something. It happens all the time at the grocery store. Usually I have time to be in and out with the boys and the people are still parked there! They have parking lots for a reason!
I would also have to agree about the honking being rude...
When people wait for me to back out of a parking spot, even though there is one 2 spots down from me.
Or when people thinks its ok to touch your baby on the face or hands without asking.
I'm in a pissy mood today and I could go on and on and on. :P
And yes, the honking thing bugs me, especially if they keep doing it because they are too lazy too see what is taking the person so long.
standing THISCLOSE to me at check out lines. I'm aware that you're behind me and in a rush, but back the f*ck up!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, the honking thing irritates me too. I had an ex once, who always honked for me to come out for our dates. My dad NEVER let me leave the house until he came to the door. :)
I think I get frustrated when two drivers going opposite ways, realize they know eachother and stop to talk in the middle of a two-lane road. Even when they notice you are behind they continue their freaking conversation! C'mon people!
I hate it when I am at the cash register at the store and the clerk hands you your change and receipt, then starts ringing up the next person. Can you at least wait until I stuff my change and receipt in my purse? Annoys me to no end.
I hate it when people discuss their personal drama loudly either on their cell or with the person(s) in their group. I don’t care how important this life altering event is your voice should not be heard above everyone else in the crowd.
I hate when people clip their finger nails in public. *puke* Can you NOT wait until you get home to do that? I understand if ONE nail breaks you need to "fix" things, but a nail file would do just fine. I want to ask people if they're going to whip off their socks and cut their toe nails too for everyone's viewing pleasure???
ugh-- my daddy always told me that if a guy (or girl) can't even take the time to walk to the door, then he or she isn't worth your time.
The lack of basic p's & q's blows my mind: If I hold a door for you or let you switch lanes, say "thanks" or give a wave or SOMETHING! It's not that hard...
I have LOTS of things that annoy me...Ha!
We live a block from an elementary school and the parents park on our block as their kids walk to the cars...they HONK when they see their kids, which happens to be 3pm, right durring the middle of nap.
People who drive with their directionals on for miles and miles and miles
When my neighbor decides to do his yard work..ie, mowing, blowing, raking, right durring the middle of nap time. Also, his dog barks all day, starting from 6am to 5pm, ALL DAY. And thats extra annoying since Ive been up every 2 hours with a newborn.
Oh good Lord, I've lived in New York City my entire life - I could write a ~series~ of books about annoying, strange, rude people...
NOT because I think NYers are as rude and obnoxious overall, the way people think we are - I think that stereotype of us is very exaggerated. I guess it's just that in a city of millions, there are just that many more weirdos than in a smaller town.
I just felt the need to add that little disclaimer in there :)
My biggest current pet peeve is the inconsiderate way people park in my neighborhood where parking is already very limited. MUST you take up multiple spaces for no reason?? Ugh!!
I hate it when people talk on their cell phone while paying in a store. The cashiers are PEOPLE and you are being incredibly rude. Nothing like treating them like they don't even exist.
I hate when I'm on a packed train commuting to/from work and someone feels the need to push their way through the crowd to be the first at the door. If you waited for the train to stop either other people will get off to and make more room for you to walk or people will step off the train so you can get out.
And on a more "fun" note. One of my pet peeves is when people wear sandals with pants... because apparently the only part of your body that gets hot is your feet?
We have someone who walks our neighborhood righb at nap time, selling tamales out of a shooing cart and honking a bike horn nonstop as s/he walks down the street. Bugs me to no end.
People who cut in and out of the carpool lane, or drive in it with just one person In the car. Or people who usE the "must exit" lane to pass traffic, then hold everyone up because they want to merge back in. Or people who stop walking in the middle of a wakway when there's a bunch of people behind them. Or people who take forever to leave a parking spot when they can SEE me waiting and there's no other spot available.
Here's one: I don't understand why people get mad at ME when I ask them nicely to keep it down, like at a movie theater. Or the guy who flipped me off when I honked at him, a friendly "bee-beep!" when I wanted to get over into his lane and he wasn't moving because he was talking on his phone. Why do people get mad when THEY are the ones screwing up, even if I am very polite about it? I only point it out when it directly affects me, not like I'm the screwup police. I'm not gong around pointing out the faults of others, but when someone is kicking the back of my seat at the movies and I ask them nicely to stop, why do I usualy get attitude for that?
They are the same people who drive their lazy asses to their mailboxes.
Thankfully this doesn't happen in my neighborhood--we live in a very quiet area. :)
Great topic Nancy! I think I've only commented a couple of times on your blog, but here goes:
I hate, hate, hate close talkers. Give me some space already! I also hate when people jam their carts into you waiting in line at the store. Back off! And finally, I hate when people phone, and you don't answer for whatever reason, and 5 seconds later, they call again. If I didn't answer the first time, I'm not answering the second. There. I feel better. Thanks.
Oh my, mine can go on and on. I will pick the top ones for today.
When at the grocery store, people who just barge out of aisle not looking and then STOP. Do they want my cart up their butt?
People who talk on the cellphone a. while driving, while this one doesn't get me all the time, it is the ones who grow stupid when their on their phone. b. at the checkout c. loudly I really don't care that uncle bob broke his toe nail seriously.
People who cut you off and then can't find the damn gas pedal. If the speed limit is 35 GO 35!!
I think that is it.
I HATE it when people stand really close to you in the checkout line. It gives me the heebe jeebes.
I also hate people who clip their finger nails anywhere other than home. I used to work with a guy who would always clip them in his office. In my minds eye I could see those suckers flying EVERYWHERE. I shutter just thinking about it.
And yes, my newest pet peeve is honking. Thank you annoying neighbor and her annoying mother.
Oh yeah and the use of strobe lights during the Halloween season (they start theirs in AUGUST) that are pointing right at my bedroom window. Those nights were not pleasant! I think that's what drove me a little crazy-which is what lead me to dragging my ass out of bed a 6 whatever in the morning to bitch out the neighbor. If you knew me-that really isn't like me. Non-confrontational is my middle name. ~Sigh~
This just in... here's another annoyance for my list...
People who are "SO glad" they have "better things to do" than care about what you are saying, but are clearly stalking you... Um yea. That doesn't make them sound like too much of an @ss!
See, I give you a lot of credit for putting details of your life and your opinions out there on blogworld. I don't think I could deal with the cyberdrama and the childish behavior. UGHHH. The closest things I will have to a blog for now is facebook, and at least there I can monitor who sees my info. There are too many weirdos out there!!
When you pick someone up, here is no excuse for honking! It's ridiculous. I can understand not wanting to get out of the car if you happen to have small children sleeping in there with you, but since everyone and their mother has a mobile phone, just call or send a text!
Just noticed that someone else said the same thing.
Oh, and my husband is a chronic lane changer.
I happen to like the discourse encouraged by your blog. I would say that maybe you should try opening up topics where we do something other than piss and moan...but I really don't give a shit because sometimes pissing and moaning is just what the doctor ordered.
I can't help myself:
Queen Darcy, (Is that your given name?)
I happen to be one of the Nancy worshippers. Why? Because Nancy IS open to differences of opinion. Nancy is a truly caring person who does much to help others in pain. Nancy is willing to point out her own failings and hypocricies. Nancy is one of the most honest, straightforward and caring people I have ever met.
For someone averse to bitching you, Queen Darcy, made a rather lengthy comment doing just that.
As a queen, perhaps you just don't understand us little people.
You'll likely never read this since you are never coming back here but at least I had my say.
Not being able to piss and moan in your own freaking blog! That's a big one.
If you don't like to waste your time reading it why do you waste even more time to bitch about it?
I cannot stand honkers! I hate to use my horn at all just because I hate that noise.
I hate slow walkers in front of me, especially in stores or on campus when I need to get to class or a meeting.
And loud cell phone yappers. Shut the fuck up. I don't want to know your boring ass business!
I deleted the drama because it's just so beneath me.
