Drivers

Why is it that I seem to get behind people who don't realize they should pull up in the intersection when they re trying to turn left? When the light turns yellow, they don't go, instead just stay where they are through an entire light cycle. Seriously, who knows not to do this?

That's the problem with living in a smallish city. People don't have enough practice driving in traffic. I wish it was legal to gently push a car by their bumper to get them moving. I'd be pushing people left and right.

That is local convention - having grown up in Chicago, I was quite used to sitting halfway through the intersection, and having at least 3 cars turn left on a yellow. Where I live now, people stop at the stop line and wait for the next green arrow. Sometimes they don't even go when there is no traffic. It makes me completely nutty! (Nuttier, I suppose)

Oh, drivers in general drive me nuts! There's always something that someone is doing that is just wrong. I consider myself a good driver. I know the rules and the unwritten rules. DH grew up in SD and his driving can drive me crazy at times. Whenever we go anywhere I always drive.

I'm in Japan and trying to navigate a whole new way to drive. Different side of the road, steering wheel on opposite side and some basic driving rules are a bit different. I know I'm the stupid one, but I've got to drive to figure it out!

You sent that from your BB, hopefully NOT while driving! ;)

You should try driving in the South sometime, I often wonder if they're waiting for a different shade or for the green to sprout.

Shannon, I got my license in SD, at age 14. That's their first problem. :)

Steph, you got your driver's license at age 14? Is that still the law there? Wow! I don't trust 14 year olds with the remote control to my TV much less than sharing the road with them!

I think it still is. That was (ugh!) 16 yrs ago though. The way it worked was a "restricted license" meaning you could drive from 6am-8pm w/o an adult. At age 16, it changed to a full license. I KWYM though, I don't know many 14 yr olds that I'd want to see behind the wheel!

@Nancy - I'm with you!! I teach HS and the minute my students get a license I beg them to let me know when they're on the road so I can get off it!!

I love the bumper car idea.

Haha! I love the visual of you bumping people trying to get them to go :) It definitely annoys me when people don't pull up to turn left.
