What's for dinner mom?

That's my most hated question. I hate trying to figure out what to cook. I don't mind actually cooking, but figuring out ~what~ to cook is a pain in my ass.

What are you having, or what did you have, for dinner?

crappy chinese takeout. should have just done pasta at home!

Breakfast for dinner is a tried & true standby for me whenever I can't decide what to have.

I hate that question too...what i really hate is when I ask T what he wants and his response is "something good"....

Here are some things I make kind of regularly, because they are quick and easy:

-Chicken Piccata and white rice with a veggie
-Linguine with pesto sauce and chicken cutlets, with salad
-BLT's with Fries
-Turkey burgers with Fries (on the forman grill)
-chili in the crockpot
-sausage and peppers in the crockpot
-chicken pot pie (recipe from pillsbury.com)
-spaghetti and meatballs

hope that gives you some ideas....

Totally agree. I'm not even slightly creative or imaginative. I'm a good cook and I enjoy it. Just no inspiration.

Tonight we had spaghetti. Husband's idea.

I agree. I like cooking but I just wish someone would help me decide what to cook.

We did hamburgers on the grill because it's going to start getting much colder her very soon. We're going out for pizza tomorrow for Sam's birthday.

Hubby cooked ribeyes, fried potatoes, glazed carrots. I guess he got tired of me reading and took it upon himself to start dinner.

I was going to use the potatoes and carrots for tomorrow night's dinner of roasted chicken, but now I may just make butternut squash risotto instead.

I recommend a good practical cookbook for ideas. Give it to your kids and hubby, have them pick out things that sound good to them, then make those things for dinner. If you do this regularly, then "what to make for dinner" is no longer a needed question.

I was working the grill this weekend. Pork loin yesterday, grilled chicken today, bruschetta, sundried tomato dip, pasta salad...my mom and sister were visiting for my daughter's birthday. Usually, I have chocolate chips for dinner, though, because I'm busy getting something for my daughter, then bathing her and putting her to bed. When my husband isn't home, it's just not worth cooking.

My standbys are tacos, burgers, spaghetti. If I have a little time, I cut up some chicken, bread it with egg and flour (and spices), and fry it in a little olive oil. Add a little hot sauce (or Hooters sauce), and it's awesome.

We just had leftovers...nothing too interesting...but, we had pork chops, noodles with a garlic-tomato cream sauce, and honey-glazed carrots the other night.

Our AC has been out for 2wks so the house was 90*. Couldn't bear to turn on the oven and hubby is sick of sandwiches and cereal so it was a pizza delivery kind of night!

What has worked best for us is to make up a "menu" and tape it to the fridge. Column for main dish/meat, side/pasta/rice, veggie, & will add bread if not carb heavy. Has curbed the discussion over what to eat very well. Now it takes 2min instead of 2h! Cross off what we no longer have ingredients for and then also serves as a shopping list!

Our normal Sunday dinner...Steak and some sort of potato. Last nights potatoes were french fries.

I was going to make sweet & sour meatballs and rice but the store was out of pineapple!

Ukrainian food would be good... kielbassa, perogies and cabbage rolls...

ARgh! I loathe this question! I love to cook - hate figuring out what to cook. Hate it. I am scrolling the comments already for suggestions.

When in doubt, I usually go back to our old standbys - homemade pizza or vegetarian burritos with whatever is in the fridge. With salsa. Salsa makes everything better.

I have the same problem. I hate that question and it's a source of stress for R and I. Tonight we may be making an "emergency" frozen packaged meal...
