Three Days

Apparently, it takes 3 days of me being "missing" before I am threatened by someone on a different continent to come search for me. (but only 2 days to receive comments, emails and texts.) Sorry about that girls. No real reason why I wasn't around, I just didn't type up anything.

To celebrate my return - I'm throwing a bullet party.

~ First, a question about reading blogs through a reader. I'll be the first to admit I am a comment whore. I love to get comments. I think everyone likes to get comments though, so I'm sure you all understand. Anywho - if you read a blog through a reader, does it make it less likely that you will leave a comment? For me, if I have something to say - I'll click on the blog to leave a comment. But I will admit if I don't have something important to say, I don't take the extra time to click on the blog to leave a random comment. So, since I read all blogs through reader, I try to click on each blog and read the post from the blog itself, only using my reader to tell me there is something to read in the first place. When I am already at a blog, its easier to leave a quick comment. This is why I have my reader feed set to "short" so you can't read my entire posts from within reader - I'm basically forcing you to click on my blog just so there is a better chance you'll leave a comment. Do you think this works? Or do you think I get the opposite effect - that people just are skipping reading the rest of my blog entries because they can't be read through reader?

~ Has everyone seen that Jen is throwing Cali a baby shower? It's this Monday - so it's close. Yay!! I'm sure you all know Cali. And I'm sure you all know she was the recipient of funds from the first U.T.E.R.U.S. fundraising campaign. And I don't have to tell you why she is one of the most deserving girls out there. Simply put: She's got a heart made purely of love. You know how it's been said that some people are actually angels in disguise, here on earth? Cali is one of them.

~ Kym is hosting the 2nd annual sock-it-to-me sock exchange. I meant to do this sooner, but looks like I missed the boat in the advertising aspect because yesterday was the deadline to sign up. I did sign up myself, but I wanted more people to sign up too. Someone out there is going to get a badass pair of roller derby socks (striped, over the knee) from me and I can't wait. You remember the Coke campaign "I'd Like to Buy The World a Coke"? My own campaign would be "I'd like to buy a pair of bad ass socks for every IFer in our blogging community". So the sock exchange is a perfect thing for me to be a part of.

~ I went to a kegger last night. Heh. An honest to goodness keg party. I was, by far, the oldest person there. I didn't think I would actually end up staying, but I did. I wasn't out late, I was home by 1am, but it was much more fun than I expected. We all ended up in the hot tub too. My husband is super pissed off at me though. He's just the jealous time and if I ever go out without him and stay out later than I expected, I get in "trouble". It really sucks, but what can I do? I didn't do anything wrong, so I just have to let him work it out himself. I'm getting the semi-silent treatment right now. You know the kind - where you are spoken to when necessary, but no chit-chat. I just hate the double standard in play. When he goes out with the boys, (which is rare - about the same rarity that I go out without him) they always end up at the strip club, not making it home until the wee hours of the morning (3am~ish). And I NEVER care. I don't mind he stays out late. I don't mind he goes to the strip club. But if ~I~ go out? Lame. There is just no pleasing him in this situation. And it sucks.

~ It's snowing right now. And I love it.

~ My HIDA scan went okay. I got a bit nauseated and moderately crampy when they put the cck in. And I saw much of the contrast flow out of my gallbladder, but quite a bit was left in too. So I'm not sure how great the function is. I should get the results next week. The first hour spent filling up my gallbladder with the contrast was wonderful though. I had my ipod on and she turned off the light. I had myself a great little nap.

~ I have another tattoo appointment on tuesday for my lower arm. It's my last of the "every two weeks" appointments. We just can't afford it. Our plan is each of us get one appointment each month, so from now on, after a session we make another appointment for 2 months out. This will take forever to get out ink done, but it's the only way we can budget for it.

~ Remember to check my other blog for baby pictures/updates. That is where I post all family type posts. As soon as I publish this one, I'll go over there to blog.

~ Hrm. Not much to talk about. And now you know why I haven't blogged for 3 days.

I do the same as you- I try to click over to the blog to read it & therefor comment. I'm not the greatest with commenting though & because I can't go to blogs or reader at work (just igoogle)I have a tendency to skip over some blogs for a few days & then I comment all at once for one post. Make sense?

Heh- it's about 65 & sunny here- we really are a world apart. ;o).

The hub & I both have tats we want to get- his is a alice in wonderland themed armpiece, mine is an escher inspired back piece. who knows when/if we'll ever get them done. enjoy your 2-month visits- it'll be slow & frustrating, but it'll happen!

I click over and leave a comment most times. I love the reader because it saves time in knowing who has updated. It doesn't hinder me from leaving comments.

I was going to email you tomorrow if you hadn't posted. I had myself convinced you had terrible news at the scan thing, lol.

I can't wait to get my next tattoo which will be Sam's foot. But finding someone who can do feet is tough. Plus there is history with tattoos and the hubby and it makes it even more difficult to find someone he trusts.

I like to read in my reader. I will say that only 2 or 3 of my reader feeds are the small condensed versions. I do not like having to click through to read the post.

I like that the reader takes you to the specific post you want to comment on. Especially when it is not the top post. It does not stop me from commenting at all.

When you did not post I assumed you had the gallbladder removal. I remember the first few days after mine were horrible. I hope your results are good.

That's funny that you posted today. I was just thinking about you this morning and was just about to type you an email before I checked out my blog and saw that you posted.

Glad things are going well for you.
I'm glad that you had fun last night. You deserve it!!

I usually only comment if I have something to say, but am more likely to comment if I'm on the post itself instead of through a reader. Though, honestly, if I'm in a hurry and getting behind on my reader (over 100 posts or so) I start to skip over truncated posts and not read them anyway... I would never do that to Your posts though.... hee hee.

I would love to go to a kegger - it has been a while! So fun!!

Glad to hear from you. I had my big u/s yesterday so I need to blog about it sometime today! You will have to come check it out later!

I read blogs on a reader and I really like it when the entire post is there because I am a lazy mofo. I read way too many blogs and don't comment as much as I should, but if I can read the whole post I can make sure that I am not missing an opportunity to hold someone's hand or offer unsolicited advice, or, in the best case, woo the fuck hoo over some good news. Some people (not you, thank goodness) bury the lead and if they don't have entire posts up on readers I miss big news.

Now I want beer AND snow...it is over 80 here today. *pout*

And seriously- thanks for the love. You are the best Derby girl EVAH!

I think I comment just as often using the feed reader. I don't waste so much time checking blogs that don't update, so I am more willing to spend the time to actually read posts from the ones that do update.

I'm jealous of your snow! It's 71 and sunny here...no snow for us this winter :(.

I think I comment just as much with the reader. I do love my reader - it makes it so easy to see which blogs have been updated.

I am glad your scan went okay! I have been thinking about you. It's just NOT like you to go three days without posting!!

I also try and click over to the blogs, just to let the blogger know that I am reading. I wish I could get a tat appt for a new piece but we're trying to buy a house so there is NO money for anything lol.

Snow??!! No thank you. I'd die in snow. I wear a sweater jacket in Florida year round.

Oh and boooo on your hubby!

What's good for the goose is good for the gander, damnit!

I'm glad you are ok. I always click and read on the actual blog, but I don't have as many as you to read. Since becoming a mom, I don't get to comment as much. Crappy that you got in trouble. We are the other way around I hate to say. I don't get in trouble for being out late, but hubby does. BUT he goes out without me more often than I go out without him.

Omg when you wrote "they put the cck in" I thought it was "put the cock in."

Glad to see you are ok .... I think we get used to you "talking" a lot.

I'm sure we will meet one day and Karl and Rocco will be running around together and we'll take their picture and post it on our blogs. Heh.

Glad you're okay! I use the reader to see what new posts there are, but I always click onto the link every time. I comment on probably 90% of the new posts I read (on all blogs). :)

I too read my blogs through a reader. If I don't have anything significant to say, I usually don't leave a comment. But I think that I do the same thing even if I view the blog on its own.

I'm embarrassed to say I don't even know what a reader is... though I am kind of new to the blogging world. I think I'll try to search around for some info on this reader thing :) It would be awesome to be able to see at a glance if a blog has been updated. So, my comment might not be worth much but, I don't think reading an entire blog post through a reader would keep me from commenting.

Can I just sympathize and say the silent treatment - even semi silent - sucks :/ Hope he comes around soon.

I'm glad you're happy about snow - I'm thrilled for my mid 60s!
Um, I can read your entire post on googlereader, so maybe you are not set to short? Or did you change it for this one?
I like being able to read the entire thing on google reader - I try to comment on every post, but a lot of times I'll read and star to come back later if I'm in a hurry and just trying to see if there is anything that needs to be commented on NOW.

Um, not sure if that computes, but it makes sense in my head. Maybe it's just annoying and I am trying to justify it in terms of your post and commenting.

I am excited for Cali and feel that we all deserve the title of Aunt for this kid. I know I will be claiming it if I ever meet him.

And wtf is up with guys that want to say out but get all cold when you do it? Al gets that way when I'm out with my guys sometimes. Ah well, I hope it passes quickly.

The sock exchange deadline was extended to tomorrow (Sunday, March 8) thanks to my crappy email inbox eating messages both sent and received. So if anyone wants to participate, there's still a little time left to do so!

I read through a reader. My problem with commenting sometimes lies in the fact that I do most of my blog reading from work (bad, I know). It takes only a few seconds to read a post (I can speed read like a sonofabiznatch), but longer to comment. I don't have the time to comment from work and besides, even if I did, I couldn't. My school servers block out the blogspot comment windows and all wordpress blogs are completely blocked out (though I can read wordpress blogs from work through my reader). By the time I get home in the evenings, I'm often too busy to click back through the blogs I read earlier to comment. So for me, I mostly comment on the blogs I first read in the evening, but I do try to make a point to go back and comment on high-priority posts (support, congratulations, etc).

Can't wait to see the new tat pics!

Hmmm I also use reader as a tool to tell me that someone has posted. But I really only click through if I have something pertinent to say regarding the post. Or to read the rest of the post like with you...

Glad you're "back" ;)

I was wondering where you went to. I was hoping that nothing was wrong. It is funny though...sometimes there just isn't anything to write! hahaha.

Figured I'd leave you a comment since you said you like them. I'm totally a blog stalker. Also going through secondary IF. I love your blog! Thanks for your honesty and opinions.

IDK about the comments thing and reader. Basically I comment if I have something to say...I don't have time (who does!) do figure out a comment for every post.

I think I'm going to get my arm finished this week, at least I'm gonna try. I hear ya about the money! Did you see the one I got on my neck a few weeks ago? Its in my blogs under February if you missed it.

Jealous husbands piss me off...mine included. I just can't say enough about this topic.

Michelle said...

Hey lady,
I hear you about the jealous husband..hense the reason I don't get out much either. grrr.

Definately let us know about the HIDA scan. I had one done (actually had to have two done) and damn I wish I had the MP3 player at the time...I just had to lay there..totally sucked. When they call...ask for the functioning number...mine was 23% and it should be functioning above 35%. hope that will give you some idea.
