The "worst" part ...

(continuation of last post) The craziest part wasn't even the time nor cold. But that I was on the side of my house, BEHIND the cars. The entire front of our house was turned off - jack-o-lanterns blows out, orange lights unplugged, big blow up pooh bear deflated, porch light OFF.

So these people skipped the front of the house, came up driveway, went behind the cars to find me 15 feet back from the front of the garage, sitting on a bucket, packing up papers.

I'm still shocked at it.

Oh, and I had the oldest trick-or-treater last night too! It was a mom and a grandma taking their group of children around. We give out good candy, those nice and big candy bars (reese's, hershey's, milk duds, etc...) and I let everyone take 2 each until it gets late and based on my supply (which is always over) I let them take 3-4 each.

Well, the kids go back to the adults and apparently told the grandma what I was giving out because next thing I know, a woman wearing jeans and a sweatshirt came up to me and said "trick or treat" and stuck out her hand. She took 2 out of the bowl and said "happy halloween" and left. People - the woman was well into her late 60s! Or maybe this was just a REALLY good halloween costume and she was really an 8 year old kid.

Hilarious!
Halloween tends to bring out the greed I guess! I bet those parents heard you had the 'good' candy & just ~had~ to get some so they tracked you down!

I can't believe they were scouting around to find you! In most places, that would be cause for calling the cops.

Gotta love those adults who think trick or treating is for them too. My coworker routinely gets kids from a neighboring (poorer) town whose parents collect candy for "my baby who's home sick." I guess it's nice that they put a polite lie on it...Personally, I just buy excessive amounts of candy, so there will be leftovers!

I am always flabbergasted by the adults who are trick or treating. I mean, really? But whatever. I'm not going to get shitty on Halloween with their kids there. After I have turned out my lights though? Get off my lawn.
The best was last year when a grown woman ALL BY HERSELF knocked on our door late at night to ask for candy. (Meth.)

I just don't get these people! Not just the old lady wanting candy but the people that trick or treat with kids that are too young to even eat candy! You know perfectly well that the parents are going to eat it all.

You've got to be kidding me. Definitely worse than the kids who carry an extra pillowcase, "because my little brother is in the car". Whatever. It's Halloween and I'm not going to let you ruin it for me (you greedy little........)

that's actually pretty creepy!!! here's a fun one: i only had 4 candy bars left and a group of about 5 kids came up with one older lady in front of all of them. she looked pretty serious and didn't seem to speak english. i said to *all* of them, i only have 4 left - i'm so sorry! so she sticks her hand out in front of all the kids, so i assume she's going to divvy them up or something - so i put all 4 in her hand. she THEN pushes past the other kids, puts ALL FOUR in another kids' bag and leaves - no 'thank you' or 'gracias' - NOTHING! so now i have 4 little faces on my doorstep and i'm the asshole who gave all the rest of her candy to a greedy old lady. awesome.

That's freakin' ridiculous. We give out bags of Doritos and chips and they are very popular. When kids come to the door without a costume, I give them the candy I hate- Laffy Taffy.

No one in my neighborhood comes after 8 PM< and most are done by 7:30. If someone comes to my house at 10:45, tough doo-doo.

I guess they were going to find you one way or the other.

We had our light on for part of the time when we weren't all out. About 15 min. after we turned the light off some kids rang the doorbell. Of course my two yr. old. ran to look out the window. I told my husband they saw her and asked if he wanted to go ahead and give them candy. He did and they were all students of his (HS) that have been giving him a hard time this year. They knew we lived in the neighborhood, but didn't know what house...until now. We're pretty sure they just went knocking until they found us. Now we're worried about kids egging our house or something.

Wow - I can't imagine they were hurting that bad for candy. Maybe they should have just gone to 7-11 and bought some of their own!
