I told the guy, I didn't even WANT the fish!

Titles aren't my forte.

My gosh, yahoo mail was PISSING me off yesterday. I just couldn't save my picture attachments and I wanted to stab my mail program. Computer rage is much like road rage. I'm not only a member, I'm the president.

ANYWHO ...

Yes. I declared reader bankruptcy AGAIN. And I've actually been out there and anyone who has had updates in past two days. Well, not everyone, but I'm getting there. Slow and steadily I'll be back to knowing what the fuck is going on with everyone. Thanks for the advice. It's amazing how something you use for 'therapy' (blogging) can become a source of stress itself.

Updates about me? Yeah, not much. I'm unemployed and haven't even started looking for a job. My severance came in and I'm in the midst of budgeting it all out. And with a lot of thanks to our families, we also found our way completely out of debt so I'm no longer worried about living in a van down by the river. Ella is in school (thanks for looking! I don't think I've ever had that many people on my other blog!) and I'm now getting my bearings enough to start thinking about working again. I'm planning on starting the job search in September.

So what's an unemployed girl to do?

GET A NEW PIERCING!

Heh. I'm not really into piercings too much. I mean, I got my belly pierced (and it's still pierced) over 18 years ago. My birthday is coming up and I'll have had it pierced for 19 years. So obviously it's nothing new to me. I was one of the first to get it done back then, but it's definitely not edgy anymore.

So. I fell in love with transdermal anchors. And since I don't have a job right now, I got one. I love love love (no, you don't have to pretend like it. it's okay.) the positioning of the one I got. I've liked the collarbones and back of neck ones, but not enough that I wanted one. When I saw the "cleavage" one (have no idea what the real positioning is called) done, I wanted it. So I got it...

YAY! I fucking love it. It's low enough that totally shows off when wearing a tank or a scoop or vee neck tee, but with a normal tshirt or button up, it's covered.

What do you think? It's a little red because I had ~just~ had it done moments before I took the picture, but it's been perfect since. And if you are wondering how it's done, first a hole is pierced into my chest with a thick needle using a forceps to pull the skin away from my chest bone. Then she stretches the hole open and slips a transdermal anchor (kinda like a flat disk) in and then lets the skin fall over it. Finally, through the pierced hole, the ball is twisted onto the post in the anchor. So I can change out the ball, but the anchor is pretty permanent (until I get it cut out I guess).

What else to do with unemployed summertime?

MORE TATTOOS!

Heh. Well, I can't really afford to get new tattoos, but I wanted my sleeve finished. Here is the inside elbow which finally got colored in...

The green swirls are working into that first bottom wave which will be eventually be worked into the top waves. The top of my arm is being totally redone. A HUGE coverup. I used to have a variety of "stuff" there - as it was when I first started getting tattoos like 20 years ago and I had no idea I'd get a sleeve done. Having a fairy and a arm band of vines was cool back then, but now it just looked kinda hodge podge.

So an incredible artist (different from my incredible artist who did my bottom sleeve) is working on my coverup. He is amazing. He covered up my entire upper arm with beautiful colored flowers. I had no idea color could be covered with color other than black. My outer (shoulder to elbow) arm is done and now he had the entire inside of my arm to redo. It won't be a coverup though, as the two interlaced koi, representing myself and my husband, is what I want. But he's going to redo it, as the initial tattoo was only started and no where near completion when my old artist started smoking meth and took off. (it was hard to find an artist who would work on another's work. Especially an artist like I have, who is actually internationally known, as he's been in tons of tattoo magazines).

ANYWHO, due to the artist being as popular as he is, he's hard to book time with, so I have two 4 hour appointments scheduled for Oct~ish and Dec~ish. It's not part of our budget, obviously, but if I can save enough money from my blogher checks and if my husband gets more in his commission checks than we have budgeted, we decided to go ahead with the appointments. But no ~new~ work. Tom is getting a lot of work done free from the owner of the shop who is just starting to tattoo (his brother is the artist and he's the business end) but is also quite amazing. So it's only "fair" to allow our only extra money to go to getting my arm finally done. We won't go into debt because of it though, nor take away from family stuff for it. Obviously that should go without saying, but explaining we're on a strict budget then talking about spending tons of money on tattoos doesn't make too much sense on the surface, so I wanted to explain.

Here is the picture of my elbow which was finally finished ...

I just can't believe that flower is centered on my elbow. Nor can I believe I sat twice for the work. Getting my elbow done was the WORST pain I have ever sat through for any of my ink. Makes me really rethink of getting my other sleeve done in the future. Like seriously. Ouch.

Nice art!

Chana was in the hospital for a few days with a rash (petechia) last week, but the doctors could find no reason for it. Then we went to a wedding this weekend, and I got to meet blogger Molly (The Logical Mommy). And our au pair is coming on Friday!!!! Oh, and my birthday was last Saturday. That's all from here. Love the new artwork, especially that flower.

I'd never heard of transdermal anchors. Leave it to you to find the Next Cool Thing.

What you missed with me: my husband was in a pretty bad accident 3 weeks ago. But we're doing all right now.

Glad you're back! A Nancy-less internet is WAY less interesting.

Oh, almost forgot--the twins both learned how to laugh. It's SO cute!

Love the tat and the transdermal anchor, way cool.
I want to be cool too so I'm shooting to get my feet pedicured tonight. (woo- I'm cool! lol)

What's new with me? I'm about to have a baby! (lol). And I'm chanting for the 15th. I agree - it is an Awesome Day for a birthday.
Other than that and I'm super excited to go see that new movie "The Time Travelers Wife" this Sunday (If I'm not in the hospital).
That's about it with me. Lot's of exciting but not much new going on in my world.

Nice sleeve - love the flower - looks like it hurt.

As for me - I had a damn 4th miscarriage last month (bummer) and we're thinking about what's next for us on the baby-making front - maybe adoption? Who knows. I just came back yesterday from Maine where we visited family - a lot of family - for a week. Other than that, nothing new.

Hah that was quite an attempt at a name list! :)

That flower on your elbow is gorgeous - I love it. Do your girls show an interest in your tatoos? I'm sure they are totally used to them but I can imagine them asking about them and naming what they see, etc.

Not sure that I am someone you read regularly but as far as updates: I started running again and am really trying hard to stick to it this time. There's a fun video of a burning xmas tree on my blog as well if you want to check it out.

Good luck with the job hunt. I'll be cheering you on!

Awww, out of all the great blogs you read, I'm amazed to see my little name in that list. Anywhos...Whats going on for me? I took that FR fertility test for kicks the other week. I'd rather have been seeing a BFP, but that didn't happen...Busy B and I roadtripped to my former neighbor's new home 4 hours away....not much else has been mentioned on my blog yet. I'm still mulling it over.

Take a better picture of that boob-crack piercing. I'm curious what it looks like. Hey, and best of luck with the job search.

I cannot even fathom that Ella went to kindergarten this week. One of my best friend's kids starts next week, or maybe the week after. It just cannot be!

I have never heard of or seen a transdermal anchor. That sounds like it hurt like hell..! But I'm glad it makes you happy.

Your elbow flower is amazing, too. I never thought of someone having a tattoo on their elbow. Yikes. Soo wrinkley there.

Nothing is really happening with me. I'm about to start my first more aggressive TTC cycle with IUI. That's about it! Oh, and I have to go back to work next week after my summer off. So that blows.

Hope you're hanging in there..

Love your attempt at a list of the blogs you read... I would never even bother to try!

Also love the new piercing! Very cool. While I'm not into all of that stuff, if I ever decided to get something done, that very well may be my choice. Different and cool, but totally hideable if need be. How was the pain with it?

Not too much new with me. Kasen's a great baby so these two months have really been a breeze! We are starting to think about the next steps for child #2 already... which is frustrating because Neal is all back to how he was three years ago thinking we'll get pregnant on our own. Guess he has forgotten about IVF and all that entailed. :::sigh::: boys.

areyoukiddingme said...

Ouch. And ouch some more. I'm such a pansy - I would never get a tattoo or a piercing anywhere where I have lots of nerve endings.

Nothing new here - just living with an unemployed by choice husband, who keeps considering jobs that will take him to Afghanistan. Apparently the job market for contractors going to Afghanistan is really good. I don't recommend it, though.

I hope your job search is much more fruitful (and there are opportunities close to home!).

I was kind of shocked to see my name in that list too, I'm touched :) Nothing exciting going on here at the moment. Mia punctured her ear drum with a crayon this weekend. I will probably be dropping a huge bomb sometime in the next few days, but I'm not quite ready to share it yet so it remains a secret.

You deserve to pamper yourself, I'm glad you found something to keep your spirits up:)

I love how the sleeve is coming! That flower on your elbow (YOUCH!) looks AMAZING! ;-)

Thanks for the recent comments! I think I needed a voice of reason about the whole shower thing. I need to stop letting it bother me ;-)

Nancy...love the tat but ouch on the piercing !

Update on me...had a major breakdown,no longer ttc, seeing a therapist now to work through all my grief...what a shitty outcome.

see, i would think the back of the arm above the elbow would hurt like hell (just thinking of getting pinched there, OW!) i know, i want another tattoo too. i'm thinking of maybe a bluebird for my friend that died last year. we'll see. If i don't get pg this year i think i will.

otherwise, new cycle here. same old family bs :)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! for being out of debt!! THAT IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, Nancy, I have just got to say, you are one crazy woman! OMG, an anchor? I'm here cringing in my chair just thinking of it. Ouch times infinity!

Nothing new in my neck of the woods. You're not missing anything from me. Still IF. Still not KU. Although AF is about to show up, I think.

Glad to see you back!

The tattoos look amazing! You are seriously very brave. I plan on getting another one soon but I still haven't gotten around to it yet.

All is well with us. The boys are both walking so that is the big news in our house.

Hollie said...

Glad you are back on board. I was thinking yesterday how much I miss hearing some of your crazy stories and seeing wild pictures. I've never seen such a piercing! It looks cool. Only Nancy... Coolest mom on the block.

I'm just working and taking care of a 7 month old and trying to stay sane getting no sleep. The story of many mothers out there I'm sure.

Kristin said...

God I love your tats! I want to get a few more done as soon as I can afford it.

You're making my urge to go get more ink itch like crazy! Sigh....one day soon

Oman and I both have an icky sickness--we're laying low this week.

And wow on the transdermal anchors--never seen one in the cleve! Love how unique it is!

Coco said...

You haven't missed much on my end.... just same ol', same ol'.

That piercing sounds like it hurts!! I could never do that!

Christina said...

Ouch, the piercing looks like it hurt like hell! I love the tattoos though. I'm searching for an idea of what to get after the baby is born. I was already itching to get another one before and now I'm dying for one! I just have to figure out what.

emilythehopeless said...

i looove the anchor!! jealous!! and don't even talk to me about tattoos.. with all of our extra money going into our adoption savings fund i can't even think about getting more.. and that makes me a sad sad girl.

as for me, i'm losing my mind. that's pretty much it.. can't figure out which adoption agency to pick.

Tara said...

I always wondered how those kind of piercings worked.

I don't have too much going on that would excite you. I make yam and beef stew the other day... yeah.

Ella said...

Welcome back, we've all missed you. I love LOVE the work on your elbow (is that a tiger lily?) - it's *beautiful*!

Nothing new here, so no need to go read my blog! Just the ever-growing belly, making me smile every damn time I look down. I'm so in love.

calliope said...

I am having some major tattoo envy. As soon as I am done nursing I am getting the two I have been waiting on for effing years. (damn that one RE that told me that i shouldn't get ink while trying to get knocked up. asshole)

Now talk some more about that cleavage dot. I mean does it have a "back". I'm too nervous to google. Fuck I am so uncool.

JamieD said...

Love the ink! The colors are fantastic. And I really like the piercing - I've seen the back ones but never a cleavage one. Very cool!

Nuthin' going on here. Hot. Tired. Same story, different day.

Lollipop Goldstein said...

Missed? It depends--did you declare Google bankruptcy before or after I wrote about growing that third nipple and having it removed?

I am such a wuss that I'm not sure I could hold still for ink on a fatty, non-nerve-enriched area much less on freakin' bone!

The sleeve looks gorgeous!

Not sure how far back I should update, but starting with the biggest: early miscarriage in June, waiting around to start our next cycle, going to the beach next week, then Vegas baby!

JennaDee said...

Don't hate me... but when I first saw your piercing I first thought that was one pissed off looking pimple on the chest!!! And after thinking about it and letting it sink in what it was I thought it was AWESOME!! I had no idea you could get that pierced!

Are you fucking serious?? I am not easily shocked ... but fuck me, that piercing!!!!!!!! You are a FREAK!!!!!!!!!

(I totally mean that in a good, cool, tough way. Freak.)

Freak.

Kirsten said...

I think it's totally cool looking but I have to admit, it made me a little queasy to think about the actual procedure and I DO have a pretty high tolerance for pain!!! I've just never heard of that...interesting...
I'm SOOOOO wanting a tattoo...just did a post about it. Do your tattoo artists design all of the work or have you designed some of them? I just wonder because I really want to design my own just to say it's my own but then again I feel like they could probably do something really cool with the ideas I have. And, I want to go somewhere REALLY good. Like, willing to travel out of state for it. I'm taking it very serious...seen too many botched jobs :) Yours look awesome!

jenn said...

I totally want more tattoos now. jealous. nothing new- you know my updates- Caiden giggles now- we're on vaca at my sisters. that's about it!

And I am not typically a fan of any peircing around the neck/collarbone area, but that's mainly because the only other girl that the hub lived with had one & it brings up bad memories. don't take it personally though- you can actually rock it!

chicklet said...

You missed that I'm actually having twins, but meh, what's it matter. Just kidding;-) You missed nothing.

On the ink - nice!! On the piercing, it's cool and frightening at the same time. The description you wrote is so AAAAAAAAAAAAAA and made me squirm! Apparently I ain't as tough as you momma.

Sarah R said...

Title of post should be "Badass!" or "Pain!"

LOL, I am such a chickenshit...I wouldn't mind a small Andrew tattoo someday, but as of now, I'm too scared. Hah, not like you can't get that from my personality that I'm pretty darn stright and narrow.

I'm glad your ass is back in blogland where it belongs! :)

Oh, I'm fine. 12 weeks today and heard the heartbeat.

Sarah R said...

(P.S., I meant Andrew's name in a tat, not his face...LMFAO)

Denise said...

If you've met a person before, do you ever hear their voice in your head as you are reading what they've written? I was totally hearing you say all of those names at the end of your post and completely running out of breath! Yeah, I'm weird.

Nothing much going on in our neck of the woods, just same ole baby stuff.

Io said...

Oh god, just thinking about having my elbow tattooed makes me want to faint.
The transdermal anchor made me smile. My friend who is going through chemo had a port put in to the right of where yours is and I told her she needs to tell people that she's just hardcore and got body modification.

Shinejil said...

Nothing to report on the Midwestern front, Nancy. Still pregnant, still wavering between yippee and oh no.

Amazing elbow work. You know, I think I'm the only gal in my circle of hipster friends w/ no tats. Why? Because I so damn stingy. :)

KimboSue said...

Holy Mother of GAWD that cleavage anchor looks like it hurts like hell! You are one brave soul getting yourself pierced and tattooed up like that!

Things going well in the Land O' Miles. He's got his 4 month checkup next Monday, hoping to get the green light for solids. YAY!

You are tough! That piercing looks like it hurt like a mutha. Glad the folks were able to help you guys out, that's got to take a huge burden off. If you get bored and want some part time computer work, let me know.

MrsSpock said...

I have never heard of such a piercing- but we are plain vanilla kind of folks here.

I've spent the past 2 weeks waiting to hear if I have Lou gehrig's, or MS, or a spinal tumor- and just found out it was likely a virus that stimulated an autoimmune response against my nervous system. But improving every day.

Plus, I think we need a snarky post.

Uhmmm I love your sleeve, it is so fucking sweet looking. Just AWESOME!!

Also love the new piercing...although it looks and sounds like it hurt like hell. I bet it's kinda fun 'flashing' something like that around. ;)

Thank you so much for the comment today on my blog. I totally understood what you were trying to say. Thank you for understanding my thoughts and feelings. I know you know all the emotions that come with this. Thanks for being great!!

(((((BIG BIRTHDAY HUGS!!!)))

I just got back from vaca so I've missed out on a TON of posts myself - takes forever to catch up on people but kind of fun too!

I have to be honest, I'm not into tats or piercings. I have one small tat and I want to have it removed, so yeah; I really don't get tats.

But, I'm SUPER glad that you are having fun! Also, congrats on the kindergarden thing - your kids are all super cute, you must be really proud!
