So I just handed her my debit card.

I made it out of the house yesterday. To evil BRU (I still can't stand to look at pregnant women when I'm not pregnant. How fucking insane is that? I had a newborn in my arms. I'm certifiable.) to pick up a tub of the best butt cream ever (triple paste). Then to lunch. Then to grocery store for more sunflower seeds (I can't get enough salt). Then I decide to stop at blockbuster to get some movies.

I never rent movies. I have a bajillion movie channels and that seems to do fine. That, plus all my DVR'd programs? I'm good. But sitting on my ass watching tv for 22 hours a day (not actually watching, but sitting awake, blurry eyed because, well, that's what a new mom does) pretty much emptied my DVRd queue and I've been watching DUMB movies.

So, hey, renting movies sounded good. I wanted to see pineapple express and what a better time? (watched it last night and passed out midway. good movie so far though, my exhaustion just got the better of me.)

I had no idea how much movies cost to rent. The signs on the front of the store screamed "99 cent movie rentals!" and I went with that, picking up 7 or 8 movies. Except apparently, I picked up 7-8 of the expensive movies. When she told me the price, I normally would have simply put some back, but since I hadn't rented for, oh, 11 years, it took awhile to get my account up to date. The girl already put in tons of time and there was now a line of 9 people behind me. When she smiled and said "That'll be $43.99!", I simply handed her my debit card. Heh.

we rented pineapple express last night too- I should have checked out the $1 rental place at the grocery store, but I paid almost $6 to rent it... I feel your pain- but the movie is hysterical!

and yes- you are crazy... but I love you anyway! ;o)

We haven't been to Blockbuster in years, either, but Adam stopped on his way home from work on Friday night to rent two games for our new Wii. I was shocked when he handed me a receipt for $19! I guess it's better to pay $9 a pop to rent them as opposed to $50 a game to buy - and THEN find out you don't like them.

Didn't you say you weren't having any more babies after Karl? Because if that's true, you should really try to get over the pregnant woman thing, or life is going to be long and unpleasant.

Yeah, the movie rental thing can get expensive. Since my husband and I are the ultimate in cheap, we rarely actually pay them for movies. Once in a while, we do get the sticker shock. But, compared to going to a theater, $4 is still reasonable.

43.99? WOW, that's crazy. We actually do the blockbuster.com so we get movies in the mail all the time, then all we have to do is return it to the store to exchange it for another and they mail off the other one. It works for us, as we don't have all those movie channels.
I think I can understand being jealous of pregnant women, even when you have a newborn, though I have yet to be in that situation yet. But if I can be jealous of those with the newborns when I'm in my 3rd tri, then I think it's ok to be jealous of preggo's even when you have a newborn. Either way I think it's strange.

so glad that you are up, out & about. Butt cream & movie rental shopping! wooo!

I haven't rented a movie in a store in years. Mostly because I don't get many chances to leave the house. I have a deep love affair with netflix. mmmm...movies to my mail box.

I hope you found some good ones! We don't rent movies very often either. I always feel so stupid when I get to the counter because I can't remember movie renting protocol and they are never able to find my account. So sad.
