I have been deemed "old" by the Association of Physicians in Obstetrics and Gynecology. AMA stands for "advanced maternal age" and since I'm over 35 years old, I qualify. Yipee for me, eh?
I leave in about 9 minutes for the big genetic counselling appointment. I will receive a detailed u/s looking for soft markers of genetic disorders. Based upon those findings, I will be offered a variety of tests including CVS or amniocentesis.
I'm nervous, but at least the time is finally here. I'll update when I get back.

I was 26 when pregnant and I had this test too. It's so fun to see the baby!
I don't know if blogger ate my comment- but Good Luck!
Hey old lady! :) I hope it went well!
poltzie, I was offered all these tests with my first two, but since I was under the age of worry, I declined them all. This time, because I'm over 35, I'm not only having them, but the doctor ordered them (I'm sure I could have said "no" if I wanted to).
So that's why I say "all because I'm AMA". Not that non-AMA-ers don't get it, just that I'm only getting it because I am AMA.
Good luck,
J
Crap. The fact that the word "Advanced" and Age" are put together in a phrase for anyone over the age of 35 ... well, that's just damn scary!!
Here's to be over 35 and "Advanced"! :-)
Glad it went well Old Lady!
