No PIO shots!

Another cool thing - this IVF cycle starts a new protocol for my clinic. Instead of PIO shots, they are moving to an oral/vaginal suppository combination. How freaking ~cool~ is that? No giant PIO shots to endure.

-- from comment: it's their new protocol this month. They are not giving out the shots, so all I can do is try this.

I've only ever done oral progesterone, but I know sticking it in my butt doesn't sound like fun!!! Woo hoo!

Gotta tell you, the no PIO protocol has been around for a LONG time. I know, because I had it when I had my FET nearly 12-1/2 years ago (my twins from that cycle will be turning 12 in June).

Good luck!!!

I'm not trying to scare you...people take the suppositories all the time and they work fine, but my clinic put me on those during my first IVF cycle and for some reason I didn't absorb the progesterone properly...and I lost my daughter's twin b/c my level got really low really fast. I refuse to take them anymore; it's all shots for me.

I took suppositories with IUI cycles and I must say I like the PIO shots a lot better b/c I'd rather have a needle in my BIG bum than yucky stuff leaking during my sleep!!

My clinic does vaginal pessaries, they weren't pleasant but seem better than the PIO stories I've heard. Kristen
