Oh crap. The "b" word was mentioned.

Bedrest.

It looks like I want to be like my due date buddy Hollie and have sudden high blood pressure too.

I went in for my appointment today and my blood pressure was suddenly elevated. It wasn't too bad, so nothing to worry about right now, but a sudden rise is a bit worrisome due to my past issues. My normal bp is anywhere from 115/60 - 120/70 and today it was 150/80. Like I said, not too bad, but it's never that high, so I've been put on watch.

With my first pregnancy, it started to get high and my doc put me on bp meds only to put me on full bedrest at 36 1/2 weeks due to blood pressure and induced me due to the placenta maturing too rapidly at 39w5d. It was weird to go on bedrest when I didn't "feel" any different. My diastolic number (the bottom #) just hit over 90 and apparently that's not good in my OB's book. I was happy it stayed in check until I was just about due anyway. You all know how I wholeheartedly wish all my babies stay cooking until they are "done".

So, the NP has declared me prehypertensive for now with a recheck on Monday. She wants to consult with my OB to see what they want to do - be it medication or, gulp, bedrest. Please oh please oh please no bedrest! I told her I simply can not go on bedrest because it's just too damned boring. Plus, I have VIP tickets to Flogging Molly next Wednesday! I'm going to be plenty pissed off if I miss that. But of course, if my body and more importantly, my baby, needs me to do it, I will.

By the way, have you read Chicklet's Build-a-Baby-Kit post? Sure, I was the one who made the initial dumb joke but Miss Chicklet made it fucking funny as all hell. Read it. Now. You'll be happy you did. :)

Bedrest would suck--especially for someone as active as you! So I'm hoping that your BP is back down come Monday.

Karl is really giving you a hard time already, huh? I hope your bp goes down and that bedrest is not in your future. Hopefully come Monday, all will be well!

Sorry your bp is getting freaky. Hopefully it's a fluke and will be fine on Monday. If not, you can be my bedrest buddy. :-) KEEP COOKING!

I hope your BP behaves itself and goes down! Good luck with your appointment on Monday!

LOL Nancy...I totally would have thouht you were asking for weed, too. I loved clove ciggs, but they outlawed them in MD...and I only smoke mostly in the evenings and at work...never inside and around anyone. I'm ridiculous about wearing something over my clothes so I don't stink. I do want to quit...just not right now...I just can't yet, though I've tried. It's stupid, too..I can go all dau but once the kids are asleep, I need to sneal out. Ugh...

Oh man I hope you can avoid the bedrest. It can be tough enough sometimes couped up at home with an infant. It would be so much worse when you are couped up at home waiting for their arrival.

Sorry about the BP, hon. If it helps, I cracked 160/100 medicated.

Anyway, wishing you a safe and healthy christmas,

xx

And here I am begging for bedrest...or at least modified bedrest and my Dr will hear none of it! What ever I can do to get out of work sooner...I shouldn't complain only 11 days left now!!

As far as the ambien goes...yes you did have a part in that. I had a few left in a script that I had from a trip I took to India, but had NO idea we could take it preggo, so naturally I discussed it with my OB first, but neglected to let her know that I had some remaining!! Now I have some for after baby too :)

You officially have only 30 days left- but I really hope none of them are spent on bedrest! Take it nice & easy over the holiday & hopefully your pressure is fantastic on monday & you & Karl can just take it a little easier for the duration... especially Karl- he's a handfull already! ;o)

Have a very merry christmas Nancy! <3!!!

Oh I'm on bed rest for a bit more, and it is boring. And with other children I can't imaigine.

Yes, my TTC journey was much easier than so many. I have a long family history of infertility and RPL which totally freaked me out. I wonder why no one ever realized the family history of clots might have something to do with it...

I hope bedrest isn't in your future! I don't "know" you, but I don't think you would enjoy bedrest very well! Maybe the bp will go down and you can remain up and about!
Happy holidays!

I hope you don't have to go on bedrest. That would be a pain. My BP was real good the entire pregnancy and then at my second to last appointment it shot way up. But after a couple rechecks it was fine and also at my next appointment. I was just highly stressed, lol.

Sorry Nancy. Didn't mean to give you my high bp germs... Do you have a monitor to check it at home? That might help you see if it is a pattern of high bp. I hope it goes down. Bedrest not so fun.
