Injections in the belly? Bah.

Not a problem.

I asked Tom to watch some household "things" while I was doing my first injection. I was a bit nervous on the whole belly stab.

Took everything out, wipe, wipe, needle pull of air, stick in jar, needle push, needle pull, needle push to right amount, pop out (a little too briskly as some of the precious meds flew out with it), grabbed the belly, ~stick~, push, out, sharps container. Done.

Seriously. 14 seconds at most for the entire thing.

Yeah, yeah, maybe it's because of my "past" (don't you dare!) but there is a big difference in the two. It took like a whole minute for the other thing. (okay, bad joke. ~wink~.)

It was REALLY itchy for maybe 5 minutes. And red and spotty. I googled and saw it was normal and some RE's say to rub some benedryl cream on the site. But, it went away before I could even find it.

So injection #1 went down smoothly. I may think a little differently on injection number 36 or whatever, but or now, I'm good.

yay!!! 1 down....how many left? I will be following this intently as I will likely be in your place a month from now - yikes!!! It is comforting to hear that the belly poking doesn't hurt too much.

duffy, it doesn't hurt AT ALL. I think it's really a huge mental hurdle.

I figure I have 38-40 injections total. And that's if I do just one follistim and menapur per day during my stim cycle and I get to trigger as "assumed" with timing.

You are brave brave brave.

My injections were all about G...he was there poised with the needle and I was firmly closing my eyes.

Whoohoo! Glad to hear you had an easy time - here's hoping the rest of your injections go just as well!

You girls are made of much hardier stuff than I.

BIG mental hurdle.

Nancy, I don't know how you do it. You've been through so much, but you just keep on going. :) (I had my finger pricked the other day to check my blood sugar and I was SUCH a weenie about even that, LOL) A precious, sweet baby being the ultimate goal is a terrific motivator, though. ;)

I can't wait to read your BFP announcement!! I am *SO* pulling for you on this.

Hi! Congrats on starting Lupron! I just started on Sunday...so looks like we will be close together with everything. GOOD LUCK AND BABY DUST!

I found that the Lupron wasn't bad. And I had no prior experience with needles, just plenty of tummy fluff so I wouldn't feel it.

But congrats on the first injection!

Congrats on getting thru the first injection. I'm sure that's the hardest, and have no doubt that the rest will be a piece o' cake!

i remember after ivf, being upset i couldn't do my insulin (gestational diabetes) shots in my belly...the thigh hurts WAYYYY worse.

the belly doesn't hurt at all, but it does give you the most shocked looks when you talk about the ivf!! people assume it kills.

hey tomorrow is my consult so i'm right behind you, lady...

Congrats on injection one down. It IS a bit strange the first time, I think, but then it is old hat. The is also something that feels so proactive about injects in a cycle.

Congrats on doing it yourself! I was a big wuss and even after 60+ injections I still made DH do it. You are far braver than I ever could be.

A warm washcloth helps as well, rubbing in the injection site. Very soothing.

And yes, you are a rock star. =)

I find that injesting chocolate shortly after the needle helps with the itchiness.

Good idea Tara - except my acupuncturist banned chocolate for me! Not that I am blindly following, but I'm trying all I can, so no chocolate in the house! boooo!!!
