What very normal things does your close family/friends do that just drives you crazy? And I'm not talking your normal "pet peeves" here that would probably bother just about anyone. I'm talking about the thing someone does that would ~not~ bother anyone else, but to you, it'll drive you absolutely up the wall?
For me it is the way my husband eats everything in twos. I don't think it's possible for him to put ONE chip in his mouth. Or one french fry. Or one of any 'finger food' small enough to get two in. Which, unfortunately, results in a larger bite, resulting in a louder crunch. The guy eats with his mouth closed (most of the time), but the initial giant bits of two just is too much for my brain to bear.
He's eating doritos right now and two at a time, he's sticking them in his mouth. And of course, he's not eating them in more than one bite, so the mouth opens as wise as possible as he sticks two of those chips in there. And as the mouth/lips are closing, the gimongous ~CRUNCH~ flies out towards my poor, innocent ears.
I can not stand it! I literally have to get up and go to another room until he's done. And watch out if I say anything! Oh good lord, no! Apparently it's my problem and that's that. And maybe it is, but after 10 years of knowing how much it bugs me, I don't think I have much chance at getting this little thing "fixed".
Ah well, it just makes my purchase of my noise cancellation headphones even that much better. I put these babies on and pure silence, even 8 feet away from chipman.
So tell me, what silly *seinfeldish thing bothers you?
* I call these things "seinfeldish" because on the television show Seinfeld, Jerry (and cast) would find some inane little thing about someone and that would be the reason the relationship would work. ie: close talker, man hands, etc. I think "chip eating" would definitely fall into this category.

It's like the "sidler" episode where Elaine gives the guy in her office a box of tc tacs to carry around and it flips out Peterman.
This one is a thinker....I'll get back to you.
One thing I do, that I know aggrevates my Hubby to know end has to do with Doritos too (and as I typed this I realized just how gross it is)....I lick one side clean of all flavor and then eat the chip. Don't know why, but they just don't taste good to me unless I do this.
I can't think of anything right now. I'm sure something will come to me as I'm easily annoyed. (Shameful I know). The chip thing would drive me crazy too.
My husband also makes the most annoying noises while he eats - drives me insane but nobody else has EVER noticed it...
I also HATE it when someone calls you on the phone and realising they have the wrong number they just put the phone down in your ear. Just say "sorry wrong number" or SOMETHING already - don't just put the phone down - I find it SO RUDE!!
Oooo - I have so many. But my biggest, most frustrating, sienfeldish issue is when people leave drawers open.
Seriously, how hard is it to close a file cabinet, the movie drawer, the or the dishes cabinet? I cringe and swear on the inside every time I walk into one!
I hate the fact that my husband does not know the words to a single song. So instead of not singing he just makes up his own words that make absolutely no sense.
I also hate the fact that my Dad does not say "idea" but "idear". Drives me nuts!!
Too funny about the chip eating. I can see where that would get on your nerves. One thing my husband does to annoy me is that he trims his finger/toe nails on Friday nights after I go to bed and leaves them on the coffee table! Soo gross! When I get up to go to work on Saturday it never fails there are always nails laying there. It doesn't matter how many times I chew him out for it either... he will probably do this his whole damned life. I could think of a bunch of other stuff abut him & just people in general but I dont think there will be enough room for me to type it all! =)
The one thing off the top of my head is when my mother 'steals' my pictures off my blog and prints them off and makes stupid crafty things with them. Even though most of them are not the ones I sell, it still drives me insane. Enough that I won't put many pictures up unless I know she can't steal 'em.
The hubby has this way that he cuts up his spaghetti-cuz heaven forbid he twirl it with his fork-and it's enough to drive me insane. Luckily he loves me enough to wait until I leave the kitchen to do it.
Honestly...depends on the day! I am so damn moody. Somedays my husband can just breathe too loudly and it gets on my nerves!
:)
Oh my gosh Jayme! My husband does that too. Drives me nuts. I just find it so gross.
My weird pet peeve is that my husband always leaves the fan in our bedroom on. I don't know why it bothers me some much, but I just hate the fact that it will be on and no one is in the room. He also has to have it on so he can sleep. (Even during the winter when it is -40 outside.) I wouldn't mind so much if it was a ceiling fan, but it is a stand fan and even at the lowest speed I feel like I'm in a wind tunnel.
My husband sighs - lots. It drives me mad. I think something is wrong. It is often the start of a fight because he sighs real big and then says something. I think he is upset or displeased and the fight starts. He will walk into a room, look at me and sigh. It is so crazy.

OMG I thought I was the only person in the world who couldn't stand chewing. Although I seriously can hear anyone chewing anything...even bananas and the like. If my hubby starts eating something, I'll go grab my earplugs. You have no idea how tough mealtime was for me at home w/ my parents. I would try to scarf down everything and bolt out of the room as fast as possible so I wouldn't have to listen to everyone chewing. Talk about OCD! :-)
Would you rather he eat his peas one by one? ;)

Hmmm....it bugs me when people make all kinds so smacking sounds when they eat. I want to smack them in the head!!!
LOL about your DH! Mine really annoys me with his eating habits too. He has good table manners when we are away from home, but I guess he feels like when it's just us, it's ok to be gross!! He eats with his right hand and keeps his left hand up in the air, ready to assist. He uses his left thumb to scoop the food into his fork!! Horrible!! I always tell him that our son will not be allowed to do that!
The power of suggestion, I know have more things, but because you mentioned eating thing, that's the main thing I can think of. Ok, so maybe I'm weak minded right now.
My hubby will eat a sandwich in 5 bites, and only chew 8-11 times. He takes another bite before he swallows the bite in his mouth. He never chews his food up, then wonders why he gets food caught in his throat at times. It's so aggravating. But, then to top it off, he can't swallow even the tiniest of pills. He has to chew them up, and suck the medicine out of the capsules. Yuck!! Why can't he pretend it's food and swallow it in a huge chunk.
It doesn't make me leave the room, but it does cause some bitchy comments every so often... he swishes EVERY single thing he drinks. Wine, water, pop, whatever. It's like it's ALL mouthwash!
aaack the food thing, I thought it was just me haha, you know what the scary thing is though...my daughter eats the SAME WAY and shes only 1, they both just shove it in. *sigh* its adorable now but I think I may have to break her of the habit soon
Oh, the channel flipping - it makes me crazy! My husband just keeps cycling through like something is going to magically change. He asks me if anything looks interesting, but how can I tell? Mostly I see snippets of commercials. Then there's the dimming of the lights in the house. It's like he's the energy miser - he's always turning lights off, while I'm always trying to turn them on (at night, anyway. During the day we agree that if there's any sunlight whatsoever, we don't need lights).
I have no qualms about sitting on the edge of the tub holding a conversation with Frank while he's at the toilet on the other end of the bathroom peeing. I'm not squeamish about stuff like that. Not a single bit.
But my gawsh - DO NOT clip your toenails anywhere near me. Please, Frank. It grosses me the freak out.
It annoys me when people use my laptop but don't close it when their finished.
Also, Frank has a knack for buying things, like groceries and whatnot, and leaving the stuff in plastic bags when he puts them away. UNPACK! This morning I found a gallon of ice cream in the freezer still in the bag. On the shelf in the laundry room, there is a jug of fabric softener still in the bag. This evening he put a bag of cookie stuff (chopped nuts, chocolate chips, baking soda, etc) in the pantry. It annoys the flip out of me.
My husband locks the dead bolt on our front door everytime he walks inside. Then 5 minutes later he'll try to go outside and the lock will be locked and he'll act like he has no idea why!!! Drives me nuts!!
hum..... I'll have to think a minute on what my DH does to annoy me, but I know what I do to annoy him...hehe. I like to soak my dishes. I've always done it, but I WILL NOT put a dish in the dishwasher unless it has had a chance to sit in the sink and soak. Sometimes for only a few minutes, if there's not a lot of stuff left on it, but a couple of hours if there's cheese or something stuck on there. Is that weird? I think it's sanitary!
My dad annoys the heck out of my mom with his food mounding. If he's got something like mashed potatoes or pasta, he's got to take his fork and make a perfect mound out of the food before he takes a bite. Then he has to re-mound because that bite messed up the mound of whatever.
Drives my mom nuts and I inherited the urge to mound! Mwahahahah!
This one is easy because it is happening to me today.
My family (Me, mother, father, brother) has gone out to eat a gazillion times in our lifetime. It ALWAYS starts with, "Well, where do you want to eat?"
"I don't care, Mom. Where ever you & Dad want to go."
"We don't care. You pick."
This is the point where my brother chimes in with some type of buffet that focuses on quantity rather than quality and we all go "NO!"
It goes round and round. Just pick a fucking restaurant!!! I will go to God damned McDonald's. I DON'T CARE.
Sorry. But thanks for letting me get that off my chest.
well- the hub does 2 things that get me every songle time. When telling a story that involves some sort of ironic ending or something that aggravates him he does this little laugh at the end that sounds like nails on a chalkboard to me. I've only started to notice it in the last few months too...
He also mispronounces words: like ice cream is ass cream. I ~hate~ this!
My husband has this annoying habit where if he washes dishes, he puts them back in the cabinet WET. Ok small thing, but is is so annoying to me!! Hello, dry them off!!
Oh, and when he opens the window, he forgets to put the screen down. Hello! There was a big bee flying around the other day in here... wonder how that got in...
OK that is all.
LOL, I love this topic. I hate mouth noises as well. my hubby will nibble all the way down a cheeto(honestly have no clue how that is spelled). It's loud and totally annoying.
The most "seinfeldish" thing I can think of is that my hubby will take a bite of his food even when it's too hot, burn his tongue, freak out then do it again!! He seriously will never check the temperature of his food before shoving it in and burning himself. Drives me crazy!!
I hate the sound of people eating and I swear it didn't start until after I had my DD.
My DH uses over exaggerating vocabulary to describe things especially pain. Ie. "I have excruciating gas."
Mr. W drinks everything loudly. I'm talking ssslllluuuurrrppppp. I seriously feel like throwing straws at him just so I don't have to hear it.
