NFL uniforms are ~not~ "cute".

I married my opposite. I never liked sports. I'm into punk rock, tattoos and roller derby. But the guy I fell in love with listened to hip hop and loved all sports. So I married into the red sox nation and now I like all things new england. I genuinely ~love~ baseball now, but as for the other sports? I can't really call myself a "fan". At least not a true fan.

So today, we're watching about 8 different games at one time and I start to talk about their uniforms and logos. Well, I looked up a website which showed all the teams uniforms on one page and I started critiquing them, asking him his opinions. We were ~not~ discussing how much we liked a team, but how much we liked their colors/logo.

Tom said his favorite was the Raiders. I questioned "black and silver? really?" and he said "there is nothing more intimidating with an all black uniform." I say "no, that's not what I'm talking about. I'm looking at who has the prettiest outfits."

Apparently me calling a team's uniform a "pretty outfit" was too much for my husband to take. I just got the head shake and the conversation was over. heh.

:) Purple and Gold are the colors of our hometown team. Purple is not my color and I think it looks almost foolish. However, I am sure there are worse color combinations.

Returning a comment for ICLW.

Uh yeah. Didn't you know uniforms aren't "pretty outfits" unless you are talking about the cheerleaders?

I married into a Bears family, although my family are mostly Bears fans also. I have no trouble getting into the Bears games, especially once we got season tickets and started flying out for a game or two each year. I can get behind tailgating no matter what the sport or the team! But for watching the other games on tv, I found that if I join a fantasy league, it gives me a reason to be interested.

That is too funny. I'm not a big sports fan either, but I love the sports movies like Fever Pitch, and all the many football movies. Yesterday as I was channel surfing I saw a college game on TV, don't remember the teams, but I was very impressed by the uniforms. They weren't pretty, but both teams apparently have the same colors. Both teams had orange a blue. Having 2 teams play when the uniforms aren't clashing made for a good game to me. Of course I stayed on the channel for maybe 2 minutes in awe of the matching colors.

HaHa, that is so funny. I had to share it with my DH.

Yeah sorry Nancy I am with your DH on this one.

How about green and white? Wink Wink. sorry, I can't stop grinning and gloating. LOL

(Actually this was also my high school colors as well. They also used to suck, like the Jets, but, this year they in the regional championships!! I guess it is green and whites year).

But, there is nothing more intimidating than black and silver. I agree with hubby. But, color combo-wise it reminds me of an over-the-hill birthday party!

I personally love purple and gold! But, purple is my favorite color.

hmm- it sounds like a conversation my hub & I could have! We are ~so~ not sports fans & moved into the most rabid of sports fans areas of a rabid sports fan city. The very first question the neighbors asked us was "Jets or Giants?" since we are originally from ny & that was THE most important thing to find out! Green & white are eh, the orange & black for the hockey team is better.

MATE!!!

I have been absentinia. (Don't know if that's a true word).

So yesterday, I caught up on your blog and had myself a Nancy-a-thon. Laughing at stupid anonS comments, smirking at your "relations" with your hubby. I seriously almost wet my pants at the dorito post, so fucken funny. AND THEN YOU CALLED HIM CHIPMAN.

From now on, I shall always refer to Tom as Chipman. Hil. Arious.

Then later I was in bed, thinking ... did I comment? Fuck, I didn't even comment!! What a rude bitch.

So here is my comment ...

Nancy, as always, rocks.

XOXOXOXOXOXOX

Heh. My best friend David's mother and I used to watch football and comment on their butts. David was disgusted with us.

Fortunantly, Hubby's favorite team has decent colors (dark red and cream) so he can still sport his team spirit and look nice. Which is good because about 75% of his wardrobe displays his teams name.

Hubby has a bunch of little plastic football helmets that he has had since he was a kid. Have you seen the old logo for the NE Patriots or TB Buccaners? They are hysterical.

I am there. I am completely unthrilled and underwhelmed by all sports.

As much as I adore my husband he pulled a bait and switch on me by turning into a football and baseball lunatic. I

I critique the uniforms too. I hate the Mets blue and orange- that is just awful.

Nancy - I married my opposite too. Except, he has no time or energy for sports and I can sit, enthralled at a game, swearing and screaming at the screen.

Seriously. It became too much. We don't have TV anymore.

I must have missed something - usually, the punk-rocker, tattoo-loving, roller derby kind of girl will go with most shocking as her favorite instead of prettiest. Glad to hear there's a girlie girl in there too; now I know you're well-rounded (pun intended)

That made me laugh. When Shawn and I first started dating I too called uniforms outfits. He just looked at me and rolled his eyes. Oops, I didn't know, but I learned real quick. After that I made it a point to watch sports with him so I didn't say something 'stupid'like that in from of his friends.
Little did I know then that watching those 'outfits' would become my life. Funny how things like that work out.

ROFL...and to think that there are people out there that think men and women are the same. Intimidating uniforms vs "pretty outfits"...hehehehehe.

Every weekend I count my blessings that I married a man who hates watching sports as much as I do, particularly during college football season.
