I Like Big Butts and I Cannot Lie

Sir Mixalot is stuck in my head.

Had u/s #14 today and got one heck of surprise. Karl decided to perform some moving tricks and he's now breech. His butt is nestled all the way down in my pelvis, nice and comfy.

The pain I felt last night totally makes sense to me now though.

We got our new carpet installed yesterday. Which means I spent much of my time on Monday and last night moving stuff around. I did way too much and exceeded probably every warning about lifting, but I felt fine doing it, so I just continued. But at the end of last night, I bent over to pick something up and felt a horrible pain in the right side of my stomach.

Ouch.

Not a muscle pull type pain or a contraction like pain. But just a sharp pain. I bent over again and felt the same thing. And then it was gone. That must of been when the little man flipped around.

I have 6 more weeks for him to move back before I will start to worry. And even after that, he still ~can~ move, it's just unlikely.

Oi. I do ~not~ want a c-section. No, no, no. Damn it. I'm a bit freaked out.

Try to relax. I know, those are the 3 most hated words, right? He has plenty of time to turn, and maybe at the next u/s he already will be. And remember, breech doesn't automatically mean c/s. You have plenty of time to think about your options if he doesn't turn, all the while hoping like hell that he does.

(((hugs))) though, I hate that you've got another worry piled on.

I'm confused as to what the "3 most hated words" are. "Breech and c-section"? "He's turned Breech"?

I think it was around 34 weeks that Andrew flipped breech. I had an ultrasound at 37/38 weeks that revealed he had flipped back. So, as you say, there is still plenty of time. I was all worried and looked up "spinning babies" and was going to try to do whatever I could to get him to flip, but he did it on his own. "They" say you're supposed to get on your hands and knees and push your back up, kind-of like the puma move for yoga. Also, my little cousin was breech and flipped while my aunt was IN LABOR, just as they were prepping her for her c-section.

Oh no. I hope little Karl will move back into the right spot. you will just have to keep talking to him and promise him something extra nice when he comes out if he turns the right way. C-sect sux, I had one in an emergency. And I never want another one. I hated being stuck in bed for so long. Sending you lots of turning vibes! When do you have your next u/s?

Did you gain any weight this time? I know you were not eating well there for a while..I don't want to worry about you...

Karl is a busy little guy. He'll move again. Don't let it worry you. Also I was born breech followed by my twin sister who did the smart thing and came head first. We took the vaginal route and we're just fine. (I don't think my quirks have anything to do with my presentation at delivery.)

Piccolina was breech almost the entire time until a few weeks before her birth. They move around all the time. The stats are on your side. It's likely he'll turn again before it gets too late. It's way to early to be talking c-section.

You can always do those fun/silly things like inverting yourself for 20 mins..the flashlight trick. I did them even thought there is no real evidence they work.

BTW, I think the three words are "Try to relax".

Damn you. Now I will have Sir Mix a lot stuck in my head all day.
I hope Karl moves his butt back where it's supposed to be. If he doesn't my mom swears that she got my brother who was in breach position to move by putting an ice cube on her stomach. She said he flipped as she did it.
She might be full of it.

Versions can be very successful in turning a breech, if it gets to that pojnt. Have you tried the rebozo technique? J was posterior (for good reasons-we found out!), but I spent a lot of time on all fours with my butt in the air to turn him.

So I was told frozen veggies on their head area help turn them around. Put a pack of frozen peas, and slowly the kid will move away from it. Not sure if it works or not, but it might be worth a shot.

Check out spinningbabies.com, and definitely look into the moxibustion/acupuncture option. None of it worked for me, but many of these things do work.

Only something like 5% of babies remain breech at the end -- they can turn all the way up until then.

I did end up with a c-section and found it to be a good experience (I have nothing to compare it to, though, obviously). I do have a scar that would hinder any dreams I have about being a stripper or centerfold model, though. Ah, well.

Hopefully he'll move back for you. 6 weeks gives him quite a bit of time still. But of course leave it to a boy to be stubborn!

you've still got lots of time. so I wouldn't get too freaked out just yet.

I think Kaci meant the 3 hated words were "try to relax".

Oh geez, I've been having the same icky pains for the last week or so. I know that as of last Thursday, my little man was breech too. He has flipped so many times the last couple of days I have no idea what is going on. Other than there is a lot less room and his every move hurts! I'm 34 weeks tomorrow so I'm not sure when they start being a bit concerned about breech. Aidan flipped about this time for good but this monster hasn't done that yet.

I hope he turns! There's not much you can do though. I'm glad everything else looked good. And I'm glad you like big butts cuz I got one!

3 hated words - try - to - relax - because it's so impossible to relax when you're worried about your baby or your pregnancy.

AH, Nancy. I know it's probbly no consolation, but a c-section isn't bad...btdt!

ANd, of course, there's still time,

oi- he ~does~ have plenty of time to move, but I know you don't need to worry about this too!

Hope he's back to the correct vertical position by the next u/s!

Crap. I hope he turns back around.

I just can't keep up with the pace of your posting!
